One Small Shift: Fresh Flowers
It's something that I've always preached but have truly come to appreciate since having my daughter, the power of little things. While it is tempting to think that real change only comes in big, sweeping form, the truth is that tiny shifts can yield significant results. A small change in your daily routine can have an enormous impact on overall happiness. One such shift for me came when I realized how much joy I drew from having fresh flowers or greenery in the house. A couple stalks of fern leaves, Gardenia blossoms floating in a glass dish or a bouquet of cheery Marigolds from the Farmer's Market all freshen our little home and produce instant joy. When I look at the arrangements, I smile. When I smell the flowers, I relax. When my daughter eats the blossoms...oops! It takes only a few moments to scope out the yard and arrange but the difference it makes in my day is truly significant. What small things do you do that bring a smile to your face?
It's all the little things that add to your big happiness.
