Baby Proof Then Meditate

Baby Proof Then Meditate

If I had to describe our daughter in a few words, I would say that she is joyful, vivacious, busy, opinonated and has a wicked sense of humor (seriously, this child loves to laugh). These are all qualities that I adore but the busy one can make sneaking in a daytime meditation quite a challenge. My solution? Hang with me on this one becasue it's a good one (and totally tested)...baby proof a room and then meditate in that space with baby. Your child is guaranteed to crawl all over you but hopefully, the zen vibes will rub off on the tiny Buddha. Here are some of the little tricks I use when meditating with baby:

  • TOYS! I set out a basket full of Tallulah's favorite toys. It's a variety of found treasures and utterly obnoxious toys. She enjoys pulling the items out one by one then throwing them on the ground (cue deep belly chuckle) and I enjoy a few moments to zone in with a giggly baby playlist,
  • Wide open spaces. Our daughter is a little free range chicken and she likes to roam. Her nursery is set up so she can do just that. There is a large rug with stable furniture all around the perimeter of the space and this gives her ample room to romp.
  • Natural light. I throw back the curtains and allow natural light to flood the space. It's even better if the weather is nice and you can safely open windows. This does wonders for the overall vibe.

The other ways to baby proof, you already know. Just make sure the space is safe and then go get your OM on! Also, how insanely adorable is this little one? Harper Grace is clearly a little yoga baby who is into meditation.
