Mama Meditation: A Serene Moment
We all get stressed and out of whack. It happens to even the most zen of mamas. Use this quick meditation when you are in need of some serenity. Even a few minutes spent consciously breathing will have an impact on your overall happiness + mood. We all don't have hours to meditate daily but do all have a few moments. Practice this when you need a fresh start in a hurry.
Find a comfortable way to connect: lay down in savanna, sit in a soft chair, lean your back against the wall, whatever makes you feel good. Close your eyes. Allow everything to get heavy- your head, your neck, shoulders, torso, hips, legs, ankles and feet. Feel the floor rise up to support you. Deepen your breath and allow your inhale and your exhale to be of equal length. Breathe in and out through your nose.
Picture yourself laying down in the most lovely field. There is a soft, sweet breeze and rays of sunlight warm your face. The sky is a perfect robin's egg blue and clouds slowly drift by. The grass below you is fresh and makes the perfect resting place for you. Allow the sensation of calm to wash over your body.
Notice the birds sweetly chirping and the colorful daisies swaying in the breeze. Notice. Feel. Breathe.
Stay here as long as you can and when you are ready, introduce gentle movement by wiggling your fingers and toes. Bring your palms to prayer position in front your low belly and begin to rub them back and forth, generating heat and friction. Bring your hands to your face and cup them over your eyes. Slowly blink your eyes open with your palms still cupped over them.
Take the serenity you felt in this meditation into your day.
