Mama Meditation: Gratitude
Use this meditation at times when you aren't feeling your best or simply when you feel the desire to express gratitude.
Find a comfortable seat and gently close your eyes. Allow everything to get heavy. Release any tension in your eyes and eyebrows. Allow your jaw to relax, creating a space between your upper and lower teeth. Roll your shoulder blades up, down and back. Relax your belly. Allow your hips and knees to get heavy. Feel the ground rise up to support you, you are being held.
Think of one thing for which you are grateful. It can be a person, situation, an idea, a place or whatever strikes you. Visualize that thing. Does it have a color? Taste? Smell? How do you feel internally when you picture this thing? Now, think of all of the reasons why you are thankful for it. Your reasons are yours alone so nothing is too small, big or silly. It's simply how you feel. Visualize a soft glow extending from your own beating heart and connecting to then surrounding the thing as you offer gratitude. I am thankful for...
Use your breath as a guide by simply saying "thank" on your inhale and "you" on the exhale. Thank you, thank you, thank you., thank you, thank you, thank you Allow this simple yet incredibly powerful mantra to wash your soul in gratitude. Keep repeating ( as a whisper or internally) until your voice trails off and you land smoothly in a silent meditation.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
